St. Xavier’s College-Toonskool Advanced Animation Academy, Kolkata recently organized a seminar on Animation Awareness. The seminar was addressed by Chris Webster, Head of Animation –Bristol School of Animation, UK, Mian Ng, International Coordinator, Bristol School and Prem Kapur, Indian representative of Bristol School. The seminar encompassed various topics like present Animation scenario, importance of drawing in Animation, Animation job profiles, growth of Animation industry and importance of quality Animation education.

Chris Webster spoke about present animation scenario and the similarity between his students at Bristol and Toonskool students while Mian spoke about the course and facilities provided in U.K.

Also present on the occasion were P.C. Mathew, Principal, St. Xavier’s College-Kolkata, Anand Kannan, HR-person- Toonskool, Agnijit Tarafdar and Tamal Mitra, faculties of St. Xavier’s –Toonskool.

Students of Bangalore based PESSE, Toonskool Animation Academy recently got an opportunity to get some ‘hands on‘ experience in movie making. Four students, Shivcharan, Chandana Bogadi, Amit Sangwan and Aditya T.V.M. from Toonskool were roped in by their faculty, Ayan Nandi, for assisting him in the pre production of the 15 mins short film The Condemned, on which he was working. The Condemned is a live action film based on the life of a prisoner in a solitary confinement and his means to redemption.

Bangalore based NITTE, Toonskool recently organised ‘Scratch’ an event which displayed the work of students from the animation institutes and colleges from across Bangalore. In the two day event which was held at the Toonskool campus, students showcased their animation expertise in mixed media, i.e. clay modelling, live action sessions, 3D and 2D animation etc.

The special highlight of Scratch was that it was an event for the animators and by the animators. The event was completely organised and executed by the students of Toonskool. A team of 30 students divided themselves into groups according to the work responsibilities like finance team, design team, hospitality team, campaign team and coordinated with the core team for the event execution.
