The curriculum for the BSc course has been designed as per the new guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) regarding BSc courses. Stating the reason for tie-up, ToonSkool CTO and Course Director R Govardhan told AnimationXpress.com, “Established in February 1982, Bharathidasan University has grown to be one of the premier educational institutions in India. The University is accredited with ‘A’ grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is fully aware of the shortfalls in animation education in India along with the need for industry relevant curriculum and expert delivery.”
Govardhan further added, “ToonSkool’s academicians will contribute to the curriculum and syllabus while adhering to the norms of the University and the UGC. ToonSkool, because of its pioneering experience in this field, has also been entrusted with the responsibility of delivering the curriculum.”
ToonSkool already has an existing collaboration with the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU). “Both universities are different in many ways. Their charters and structure of their curricula are different. The students and parents have their own perceptions about these two universities. Both the tie-ups will provide variety to choose from and quality will be assured through either of the relationships.”
ToonSkool has entered the international markets and will inaugurating its first international centre this year. Beginning next academic year, the institute will introduce its masters in Animation post-graduate degree program in selected study centres.
“In 2009, we aim to open our first Centre of Excellence in Bangalore, and offer our students the added value of partnering with a foreign University and by 2010, we plan to expand our study centre network to cover all major cities across India,” Govardhan informed.
